                    Diet

There is no restriction on your diet.  You may resume your regular diet after surgery.  However, it is important to maintain a healthy diet.  If you over-eat, you will gain weight, but the removed excess pockets of fat should remain stable.

                    Activity

Your return back to normal activity depends on the extent of your liposuction.  If you had a large volume of fat removed, you may have to limit your activity for the first few days.  If a small volume of fat was removed, then you can be up and about the next day.  After several weeks you will be back to your normal daily activity.

Wound Care

You will feel most of the swelling and bruising in the area where the liposuction was performed for the first week after surgery.  The swelling and bruising will improve over the next several week.  You will also notice some numbness of the skin in the area where the liposuction was performed.  The numbness is temporary and slowly improves with time.  You will be asked to continue to wear your compression garment for four to six weeks after the surgery.  You will be okay to shower 48 hours after the surgery.  The stitches used to close the small skin incisions will be removed in 7-10 days.
